BoxyCharm Makeup is Art May Subscription Box

When I opened up my BOXYCHARM for May I was pleasantly greeted by a brightly colored insert card with the caption Makeup Is Art. I thought ooh this is gonna be another good one, will there be a bright lip color or fun nail polish inside? NOPE. It was more like every product you need to create your very own photoshopped Instagram makeup look! Heavy Brows, Contour, Highlight, and a paint brush for your heavy foundation. I'm just not a fan! Maybe some of these products will surprise me? Lets check it out!

IBY Beauty Highlight & Contour Palette ($40)
This Highlight & Contour palette lets you sculpt, define, and illuminate your features with 6 versatile shades,

Okay, so from first open I was just happy these shades weren't all orange. The palette itself is compact in size with all matte powders. The three contour shades were flattering and I found I could use them all on my pale skin. The powders are finely milled and easy to blend. I use the Kat Von D palette to contour but I did like this and it will come in handy for Summer travel.
Crown Brush Round Contour Brush ($24.99)
This super soft paddle brush can be used with any liquid, powder, or cream product for full-coverage application.

They're about a year behind on the artist brush trend, it's more or less a novelty. They do work well at blending foundation seamlessly, but when you use a beauty blender this just feels like a hassle. I don't wear full coverage foundation so this isn't a brush I will get much use out. The brush itself is soft, dense, and Crown Brush always does quality brushes.

The BrowGal Brow Brush ($14.00)
This double ended brow brush was designed to allow for precious and creating hair like strokes while filling in the brows. This brow brush is flat sided on one end with a spoolie on the other end. To me this was a waste of a product, who doesn't already have a brow brush? The brush should have been included in the brow powder kit.
The BrowGal Convertible Brow in Brown Hair ($35)
The Convertible Brow is a brow powder/pomade duo that acts as a powder when used dry and a pomade when used wet to fill in and apply color and definition to the brows.

The duo Brown Hair has three colors of brow powder. It was too dark for me, so I didn't try it. It does look to be a nice trio of colors for brunette brows.

TEMPTU Liquid Glow ($29.50)
In this limited edition collaboration with BoxyCharm, TEMPTU introduces Liquid Glow, its first hand-applied highlighter. Formulated to deliver a radiantly luminous complexion , or to illuminate all over, this long-lasting formula is designed in a rose-gold  hue that flatters every skin tone.

Yes! Finally something good! This highlighter is beautiful. I love the look of Rose Gold highlighters and it works even on my pale skin. I have been a fan of TEMPTU's airbrush highlighter for years so I love that this one can be applied with out any equipment. It is lovely and glowy!

So my thoughts on this box are meh only because this isn't the kind of makeup that I am in to. Though I know it will appeal to some. For $21 BOXYCHARM did pull through with that full size contour & highlight palette and liquid highlighter. Not my favorite box, but still worth it!
