Halloween/ART FOTD: D*face "Pop Tart" Graffiti Girl

Photobucket
Time for some weird shh! Every year I like to do a look that's just "me", something that allows me to unleash the creativity and fall in love with the art of makeup again. This one embodies glamour, grit, pop art, and plain effed upness. Based off one of my favorite Artist's, London based Street Graffiti Artist known as D*face and his work of a decayed Marilyn image titled "Pop Tart".

His work which he calls "aPOPcalyptic" often features images of cultural icons with themes of celebrity, fame, & mortality as a commentary on conspicuous consumption in popular culture. His aim is for the viewer to question their relationship with the work, and to encourage the public to not just ‘see’ but to look at their surroundings. That inspiration translated to this face...

Halloween FOTD: Send me an Angel

Photobucket
Given the costume choice between "Angels & Devils" I naturally gravitate towards the darker side, so for this Angel look I went with the exact opposite. I wanted it to look as if I'd been blinded by the light. I couldn't get a decent picture to save my soul. Glitter is notorious for being a pain to photograph, but you'll get the idea at least :) There's a lot of makeup options for a dark or fallen angel, but not so many for a 'nice' Angel other than your typical soft pretty makeup, so I hope you'll like my take on it!

Halloween FOTD: A Clockwork Orange

Photobucket
A Clockwork Orange is one of my all-time favorite books & films, thus making villain Alex DeLarge the inspiration for my costume look tonight. I used my Dinair Airbrush to create a graphic check design reminiscent of a mod London vibe, Make Up Forever #152 Gwen False Lashes, and popped in some black circle lenses to represent the Ludovico Aversion Therapy treatment. Enjoy the creepster eyed ultra-violence! Happy Halloween weekend!

You could easily put your own costume together for this too. A simple menswear
style white dress shirt, white pant or skirt, and a black hat. The 'big eye' is really what completes it.

Halloween FOTD: Chucky Doll

You'll have to excuse the influx of post's right now. I had some free time this morning so I wanted to quickly get up the costume looks I wore out this week, just in case any of you are looking for some last minute Halloween ideas :)

Chucky's stitched up face became my test victim for a new product I picked up, Mehron's Rigid Collodion. It has a very strong scent, so I wanted to make sure my skin didn't react adversely to it. It's always a good idea to test products like this beforehand, first sparingly on the body then face. No one wants an allergic reaction on Halloween. I really like this stuff, it creates delicate indented ridges instead of the thick ones you tend to end up with when using putty or wax. It's a bit difficult to see in pictures, but it appears your skin has been thinly slit or scarred. My Costume is the Sexy Chucky Costume from HalloweenCostumes.com (sponsored), some random wig I dyed red, and knife from my kitchen :)

Halloween FOTD: Pop Art & Pop Stars

For this I wanted to pull a Lichtenstein element in to something less face paint like and work in my Violent Lips Tattoo's. I think this would be a fun alternative for those of you that fancy the pin up look but want a lil change up from the usual winged liner & red lips..Even a Katy Perry costume maybe?

Nicki Minaj has quickly become one of my favorite Artist's and "makeup muse's", she's just so fun to look at! Undoubtedly a popular costume choice this year, I'm doing one of my gf's up harajuku barbie style for Halloween. She's quite fair, so I put my highlighting and contouring skills to test on myself first to get a better feel for creating the look. Fiiiinally got a chance to break out the MAC Pink Friday lipstick that I can't pull off otherwise.
