To mark the huge 20 year milestone Urban Decay has brought back all the old-school shades you never thought you would see again with the VICE Vintage Capsule Collection. This collection lets me re-live my late 90's alternative rock years. Though I'm pretty sure I never stopped. If you remember makeup moments like Gwen Stefani rocking blue everythaang and Shirley Manson's dark moody pout (that Bruise is a ringer for) then you already know the nostalgia this collection brings. As I am writing this review I am listening to Greenday and wearing a black velvet choker. '96 lives on.
The packaging of the Vintage Capsule Collection is a little different than the regular lineup. They have modernized their original bullet and even used craft paperboard to construct the carton, just like they did back in the 90's. How rad is that?
The Vintage Capsule Collection is the perfect mix of vintage UD and modern luxury. While these shades haven't been available in years they almost feel futuristic. As if they were created before their time. Like, I feel we should all be wearing a vibrant blue with a purple shift on our lips in our daily lives by now right?
UV-B, Pallor, Plague, Asphyxia, Smog
Smog, Roach, Bruise, Frost Bite, Oil Slick
The most wearable shade in this collection is Bruise. It is their most-requested vintage shade.
Bruise is a sheer deep burgundy red with a green shift (though I don't see it). This creamy, high shine wine shade keeps your lips moisturized while looking lusciously red. Bruise paired with Gash Lip Pencil has been my go-to dark red lip this Fall.
The other 8 shades are rather unconventional, but there is at least one you will want to own if only for the cool factor.
Smog was an unexpected love, the shimmering bronze is incredibly pretty, especially at this time of year. It makes you wonder why we don't wear colors like this more often. Why do nude, pink, and red get all the love? Scorch 24/7 Eyeliner goes lovely as a lip liner with this color.
Because there is just something about blue lipstick check out Frostbite. The silvery grey blue iridescence is so unique. It's not your run of the mill blue lipstick is what I'm saying. If that's even a thing.
Least Vintage favorite, BlackMail. The formula is very sheer, and it falls in to lip lines. I know this could go avant garde or be used to deepen lipstick shades, but I just don't see myself getting much use out of it.
While these shades won't be for every one they are too nostalgic to pass up! Each shade in the limited edition Vice Lipstick Vintage Collection ($17) is available at urbandecay.com. SEPHORA, Ulta, & macys.
Urban Decay just released the VICE Lipstick Stockpile! 30 shades of VICE. OMG! This is what dreams are made of, it's limited edition so get it while you can!
