Halloween really snuck up on me this year! Instead of battling last minute crowds to search for an all new get-up I dove in to the treasure trove of my past costumes. I always keep my old Halloween costumes for situations just like this one. With a few hair and makeup changes and the help of Scotch™ Essentials secure wardrobe solutions you can turn that old costume in to one that looks new!

This robot costume is one of my favorites but it's not exactly made for late October weather in Seattle. To add a layer of warmth I took a chance and ordered a pair of leggings online to go under the dress. Problem? The leggings were much too big and long. Costume wear often comes in one size fits all or S-L sizing so getting a perfect fit can be challenging.

With my sewing machine so deep in storage that Halloween would be over by the time I found it I picked up Scotch™ Essentials Adjustable Hem Tape. It lets you easily change the hem length on pants, skirts, dresses and more.

What I love about the Scotch™ Essentials Adjustable Hem Tape is that there is no ironing or sewing required. Even the most novice fashion diy'ers can do this and it takes little to no time at all.

Measuring Tape
Pants

Begin by turning the garment inside out. Measure how much you need to take them up, for me it was 3 inches. For best results, press hem with iron to form crease if your pants are iron friendly.

Remove tape strip from backing and position it inside the new hem. Apply the strip on to the fabric. You may need more than one strip depending on the width of the clothing. I used two, one for the front and one on the backside.

Smooth down the strip by rubbing it firmly in to place. Then, slowly peel off the top backing to expose adhesive.

Fold your pants back over, pressing firmly to make sure it is securely in place.

That's it! A hemmed pant in under 10 minutes with out the use of a sewing machine. This year, I am trading in boots for my newly hemmed liquid silver leggings and Mary Jane shoes. No one will ever know this Robot is circa 2013 and recycled from my closet.

Scotch™ Essentials Adjustable Hem Tape is also perfect for hemming your jeans or maxi dresses to wear with flats and high heels. I use them to keep my jeans rolled up, they stay securely in place all day.

So many times I see a picture of my costume on Halloween night and the one thing that irks me the most is when something falls out of place. The whole look gets thrown off when your jewelry or accessories are off-kilter. Scotch™ Essentials Wardrobe Tape Strips helps you to avoid a wardrobe malfunction and capture that perfect Instagram photo.

Scotch™ Essentials Wardrobe Tape Strips come in this cute little portable tin. It is super convenient for popping in to your handbag before heading out for the night.

Being fabric and skin friendly I placed a strip on the inside of my costume gloves to prevent them from slipping down. Apply the Scotch™ Essentials Wardrobe Tape Strip to anything that needs securing. Necklines, jewelry, and scarves stay perfectly in place. They are your secret to style success.

Scotch™ Essentials Wardrobe Tape Strips have come in so handy this Fall for my endless wardrobe of plaid button up shirts. They attach securely fixing those bust blouse gaps in a snap!

I can't even begin to tell you how much of a savior these have been. I can wear button up blouses again with out the worry of flashing people!

Scotch™ Essentials can be found in the Walmart Beauty Accessory aisle - where fake eyelashes, makeup brushes, cotton balls, etc. are located.

Another way I like to give new life to an old Halloween costume is by doing something totally different with the hair and makeup. Try a colorful wig, extreme lashes, or a bold shade of lipstick. Just changing up the styling can create a whole new look.

With a couple fashion hacks from Scotch™ Essentials it is easy to tailor your Halloween costume in to frightful fashion. What fashion dilemma would you use Scotch™ Essentials for? Have any tips or tricks for making an old Halloween costume new again? I would love to know!
