Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

My first makeup purchase of 2015! I took a much needed break from buying or receiving makeup over the last few months. Not so good for beauty blogging, but now I feel like I can be much more selective in my product choices. Only choosing a few each month that I feel would be an asset to my makeup collection or blog. Excess just creates clutter in the mind and space. The Kat Von D Innerstellar Palette is what I wanted for Xmas, didn't get, then couldn't buy! Talk about beauty is torture.

I had been eyeing Innerstellar since the release. The cosmic theme, spacey packaging, cool neutral metallics, just every thing about it said YOU NEED THIS. Even the purple wasn't a deal breaker. Wasn't it about time we got a cool toned palette from KvD? I've passed on most of the recent KvD releases because they tend to run very warm.
Experience the bolder side of neutral with this lunar-inspired palette of cool, cosmic colors. These 12 new provocative shades are brilliantly arranged into three quads, each featuring a large, versatile base or highlighter shade with a corresponding trio of accent hues—from irresistible silvers to moon-dust nudes and smoldering earth tones in pearl and matte finishes. These ultra smooth eye shadows are milled with a triple-jet process to yield rich pigment in just one swipe while delivering ultimate blendablity and crease-free wear.
KvD eye shadow palettes are consistently awesome in quality. The eye shadows have high pigmentation, silky smooth blendability, and wear all day with out fading.

Eye shadows in Gravitron (soft iridescent pink), Vast (pearlized taupe), Lycan (matte cream)

Night Crawler (matte dusty beige), Dios (silvery gray iridescence), Lunacy (rich pearlized purple), Astrological (pale lilac sheen), Darkstar (purplish pewter), Orion (matte chocolate brown), 3am (metallic champagne), Moonshine (metallic silver), Killing Moon (matte black).

Innerstellar is one stellar palette for many reasons. One, Lycan is that perfect matte cream highlight shade that is often left out of palettes. You can put together multiple neutral eye combinations. I am especially fond of 3am on the the lid, Night Crawler in crease, Orion to intensify, and Lycan to highlight. Then it moonlights as a smokey eye palette, with Moonshine being a gorgeous metallic lid color and Killing Moon a no fallout smokin matte black. Purple is usually not for me, but the lilac shades are beautiful lid colors against green eyes. There isn't one shade in this palette that I wouldn't use, so much versatility. I bought two other palettes that day and Innerstellar has been getting all the love to the moon and back.

Totally satisfied with this palette purchase, Innerstellar is a kicked up neutrals to night palette that I know I will get a lot of use out of. If you want some edgy neutrals with cool toned flare GET IT.

Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye is also looking very tempting! Get KvD Shade & Light Eye Palette HERE

Trying On: Budget Velvet Matte Lips with Me Now Generation Liquid Lipstick

Lately I've been loving velvety matte lips. Lime Crime, Kat Von D, Anastasia, Dose of Colors, even Jeffree Star all have liquid matte lipsticks that are pretty rockin. However they do run $20 or more a tube. When I saw these inexpensive versions on Born Pretty I thought what the heck...under $4 with 36 shades? If they suck it won't be much of a loss and if they don't, buy them all :)

Born Pretty lists these as 12 Colors Lip Gloss Waterproof Matte Velvet Long Lasting Lip Pencils and the prices range from $1.99-$3.34 depending on the shade range. When I checked today they were on sale for $2.51. The brand is "M.I. Me Now Generation II". With 36 shades in total from pale nude, bright pink, to a range of reds.
#26 (tawny nude), #25 (blue based fuchsia), #28 (vivid orange red)

#26 is a pretty tawny nude shade. It pulls a little warm on me, I was hoping for a mauve, but I think I'll find that in #2.

#25  Killer shade of fuchsia. I have worn this color three times already, such a super flattering deep blue based pink. Out of the three shades #25 dries down to a soft velvety finish the quickest.

#28 Beautiful pouty orange red. This is what I wanted Lime Crime Suedeberry to look like but it was overly orange. Love being able to wear a red lip with out the worry of lipstick on my teeth or glass. These are very date night friendly lipsticks :)

Me Now Generation liquid lipstick far exceeded my expectations. I never expect much from "no brand" generic makeup, but these rival high end liquid lipsticks. The formula is light and dries down to a matte finish quickly. They are water-proof,  kiss-proof, and transfer-proof. Your lips also aren't left super dry after removal and feel comfortable even with many hours of wear. Being quick in application is important. A thin layer and make it fast or it will stay tacky like your lips are being glue sticked together. Once you figure out the application tricks though these are some really nice lip colors.

Here is a comparison next to a few of my Lime Crime Velvetines. I think they are different enough to not compare color wise.

#26, #25, #28, Lime Crime Red Velvet, Lime Crime Suedeberry, Lime Crime Pink Velvet

This liquid lipstick formula is so on lock down that you will need an oil based makeup remover to fully take them off. As you can see the Lime Crime were wiped away but Me Gen were still very much there, crazy crazy staying power.

Count me in for many more shades of Me Gen Liquid Lipstick. Born Pretty even does a wholesale set of 12 for $18.00, that's like a dozen for the price of one high end version. There are some shades that these just can't dupe like Lime Crime Black Velvet and Kat Von D Lolita, but other than that they are just as nice with a huge flattering shade range and a price that can't be beat.

Oscar Blandi Hair Products - Travel Size ($11)
Refresh, Revive, and recharge hair without water. Pronto Dry Shampoo is perfect for use between shampoo's or as a midday hair pick me up. This dry shampoo increases volume and removed dirt and buildup from the root area in seconds.

I had this in my SEPHORA cart to buy so I could not believe it came in my box! It was even the right version for my hair and travel size. I've heard such great things about this dry shampoo so I can't wait to try it.
Water resistant and perfect for the eye and lip area. Created with synthetic beeswax base for a smooth, soft, and long lasting application. The color I received was light beige. This is the perfect shade for the waterline. The pinky beige is brightening and not harsh like white can be. It could also be used for a nude lip. I love flesh toned pencils and this one is a beautiful one.
LVX Nail Lacquer in shade LemonDrop
LVX are fashion forward nail polish shades that are 5 free, have a gel like finish, cruelty free, and vegan. When I saw this color it made me smile! Lemondrop is like Easter and sunshine and baby chicks. I don't own a color like this at all so I'm happy to have it in my nail polish collection amongst all the pink and red.
Lipsurgence delivers the benefits of a lipstick with creamy rich pigment and the ease and moisure of a balm. tarte lipsurgence are one of my favorite lip products for fast or on the go lips. They are fool proof to apply even with out a mirror and they have a refreshing minty taste to them. This is another product I had in my SEPHORA cart and the right shade too! Charmed is a gorgeous sheer warm pink. A glossy natural pink color that will be lovely for the lightened up Spring makeup routine.

Nutrify Skin Type 1-6 is the most expensive item in this months box at $48. This tonic hydrates skin and speeds healing while fighting free radicals and surface irritants. It has a very interesting ingredient.. daisy extract. Which is a non-bleaching botanical to stop brown spots. I am a skincare serum junkie so I will be putting this on my face asap and if it is good I'll review this in a separate post. Just like every month, completely happy with the selections from BoxyCharm :)

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Skin & Bodycare Review

Palmer's Original Cocoa Butter has been the only body lotion that I've used for as long as I can remember. I love their cocoa butter formula above all others, from the deep moisturizing properties to the yummy scent. After trying out more from the line instead of just one favorite product I have about 10 :) From individual targeted body products, skin oil, even a hair masque. A huge portion of my lotions and potions this Winter have been from Palmer's. Now that the weather's warming up it is the perfect time to get your skin Spring wardrobe ready.

Vitamin C was a huge beauty discovery for me this past year. I couldn't get enough of Vitamin C in my skincare regimen. The brightened complexion, even skin tone, and radiant glow all had me wanting to incorporate Vitamin C not only topically but also internally through supplements.

Get a Lipstick Ready Smile with Colgate® Express White Toothpaste

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, Colgate-Palmolive. All opinions are mine alone. #OpticSmiles #CollectiveBias.

With Spring just around the corner I've been itching to freshen up my makeup routine. The change of season means bye bye to teeth brightening blue based Red lipstick and in with the Coral's and Pink's. Lipstick is my favorite part of makeup but certain tones can make your teeth look well dull. If you've worn a lavender lipstick you know what I'm talking about. Those daily iced coffee's don't help either. When placing all the emphasis on the lips you want to make sure your smile is amped up and lipstick ready. With Colgate® Optic White® Express White Toothpaste you can get whiter teeth in as little as 3 days!*

I've used other teeth whitening methods to brighten my smile but found them time consuming, messy, and at times painful to my sensitive teeth. With Colgate® Optic White® Express White Toothpaste you can take the hassle and an extra step out of your beauty routine, just by brushing.
Unlike other whitening toothpaste Colgate® Optic White® Express White contains the professionally recommended ingredient hydrogen peroxide. Optic White Sparkling Mint had been my toothpaste of choice so it was easy to make the switch to Colgate Express White. It leaves your mouth feeling super clean and minty fresh which I think is equally as important.

I'm definitely impressed with the results I've seen in my teeth. I can't wait to see how they will look with continued use. Being able to get whiter teeth just by doing something we do every day is pretty awesome and so easy!
Some of my favorite lipstick shades I'm pulling out for Spring are bright pinks, vivid corals, and punchy orange based reds.

A sparkling white smile gives you that extra confidence to break out those bright lipsticks! #OpticSmiles

I picked up Colgate® Optic White® Express White on a center display between the Personal Care and Cosmetics aisles at my local Walmart. It can also be found on the shelf in the toothpaste section. There are 3 sizes available: 3oz & 4.5oz, and the convenient 1.45oz travel size will hit select stores on March 14th. With such an fast and easy way to whiter teeth you'll be on your way to rocking a vivid Spring lip color in no time!

*For best results, use as directed for 4 weeks.
