Review: MUD The Leading Lady Kit

You're probably familiar with Make-Up Designory for their highly regarded schools in New York & LA, but you might not have known they also have their own line of cosmetics available. They offer a selection of products for the face, eyes, cheeks,  lips, as well as tools, palettes, brushes, & accessories. MUD promises quality, long-lasting, flawless application and radiant accurate color cosmetics, and that's what you'll get! I wanted to review MUD, because they're the real deal. No hype, no new collections every week, no slick marketing gimmick's...just truly functional, performance based Make Up Artist QUALITY cosmetics.

The Leading Lady Makeup Kit ($29.95) is made up of perfect coordinating shades to create a classic Retro Hollywood "Leading Lady" look. The kit contains a customizable MUD quad with 4 eyeshadow pans in Apricot, Taupe, Expresso, and Honeysuckle. The shadows are velvety smooth, pigmented, and blend like a dream. Taupe & Espresso also make fabulous brow powders. These are some of the best matte eyeshadow's that I have in my kit. I'm not sure if this set is still available, but the eyeshadow's & lipstick are available for purchase separately. They offer refill pans for $10. I'm slowly replacing my MAC pan's with them, such great quality for the price.

Lady Bug Lipstick is a girl's best friend, aka the perfect Red Lipstick. The satin formula is rich & emollient leaving lips with a smooth matte finish. The color is an intense tomato red with slight blue undertone. Basically, if  MAC Russian Red & Ruby Woo had a cremesheen baby this would be it. This has become one of my absolute favorite red lipstick's. It looks luscious on, I'm already on my 2nd. tube!

I also recommend checking out their brushes! I have a few and they're phenomenal quality. Definitely worth investing in if you're looking for high-quality professional makeup brushes.

MUD Cosmetics is available at mudshop, select store locations, or visit their stores in New York & LA.

Above review contains a sample provided for  review consideration and products I purchased myself.

FOTD- MAC Love Lace Face Chart

It's been awhile since I've done a MAC Face Chart, but I wanted to do something with lace and remembered this one from the winter Love & Lace Collection. It kind of took forever, so by the time I got to the other eye I just slapped it on. I had planned to trim the outter edge out with black sequins/rhinestones, if you want a finished look I recommend doing that, but I was tired and got lazy =p I also smeared the bottom part with my hand by accident! It's not up to my standards, but you get the idea at least. I think this makeup would be a nice touch for a gothic or 1920's/Victorian styled look.

EOTD - Stream of Color

Over the Rainbow
I had 5 minutes to do something festive for pride night club festivities. I'm sooo over colorful rainbow eyeshadow these days, so I decided to do a simple rainbow liner. Sometimes less IS more :)

PhotobucketI used Graftobian Magic Set Mixing & Lining Medium with various pigments to create this stream of color. Using pigments wet is a great way to create colorful liners. Just wet your liner brush, dip in to pigment,  mix it to a "liquid liner" consistency and apply as you normally would.

FOTD -Illamasqua Liquid Metal Solstice

Photobucket Illamasqua Liquid Metal Solstice is pure gold. I'm generally anti-cream shadows as they tend to crease easily. This is no exception as it's quite greasy, but definitely worth the extra effort! For the eyes, I think it's best suited as a top liner, applied in a very thin layer over a base, or in a more theatrical manner. On my lower lash line it creased almost immediately, so i'll stick to the inner corners only. This is such an amazing gold though! When it catches the light it really does look like liquid 24k!

Style: CBT's Closet

CBT's Closet is an online store that sells Resin & Acrylic Laser Cut Jewelry. I absolutely adore this girl's stuff, I was rocking the Gold Diamond necklace in my Rihanna look below.  She carries tons of unique styles of Necklaces, Earrings, Bracelets, & Rings. All in cool designs like diamonds, skulls, horror, music & beauty themes, word necklaces...you name it. You can get them in an assortment of different colors & sizes, so they're highly customizable. The pieces are exceptionally well made & affordable, most being in the $12-$20 range. A lot of times 'DIY' stuff can well look DIY, but CBT's pieces have the quality that you'd expect of something that'd cost you 10x more (like Steven Shein! love you babydoll...but it's $$$ honey). I highly recommend checking her out if you're in to funky, kitschy, colorful, downright fab jewelry :) You can purchase from the website at CBTscloset or check her Etsy store out here!

FOTD - Rihanna Rude Boy Inspired

Rihanna is one of my favorite celebrity's when it comes to makeup, she actually has fun and experiments with it. Even though it was kind of hard to see amidst the heavy graphics/animation, I loved her makeup in the Rude Boy video. I didn't get many pix, I was in a rush as you can tell by my not yet dry lash glue :)
