Review: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar

I have a confession to make...outside of the Artistry aspect of it, I don't really have much interest in makeup. The latest 13432432 MAC collection's and the like just don't excite me anymore..seen one peachy pink lipstick seen em all. But every now and then something truly innovative comes along that sparks my interest. This time being the stunning innovation in lip color that is the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar..

OCC LIP TAR™$13.50 USD | .27 fl oz -  OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. OCC Lip Tar is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, and is also free of parabens and other harsh preservatives. It goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, OCC Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment, so a little goes a very, very long way. The formula of these is unlike any other lip products I have. They apply like a gloss but dry to a satiny lipstick finish. They aren't kidding when they say these are intensely pigmented, one drop will give you a full coverage lip.  They feel nice & light on the lips and are very long lasting. The only con's I found were they are too drying for daily use & settle in to lip lines. The product packaging could also use a re-work to prevent excessive product from being dispensed. The color range is spectacular though, not many companies have the balls to offer such off the wall & intense shades. I'm a total "Lip Girl" so I just love the possibilities with these, any lip color you can dream up you can create. Tip: Also try them as a cream blush, so gorge!

While these probably aren't going to be your go-to lipstick for everyday use, they are a fantastic & versatile product to own if you're in to bold opaque lip colors or do avant garde/editorial/photoshoot work or hi-def. I picked up their original shades, but they have since expanded to a range of 36 bold nudes, pinks, reds, and the completely outlandish. Worth the hype? Absolutely.
