Kiehls Healthy Skin Essentials Starter Kit Review

What I love about the beauty shopping during Holiday season is all of the 'Try Me' kits available. They give you a chance to sample multiple products from a line before buying the full size. I recieved the Kiehls Healthy Skin Essentials Starter Kit as a gift and have been testing it out over the past month in hopes of revitalizing my dull, dry Winter skin!

Keep Reading for the Kiehls Skincare line Review!

Kit includes:
- Ultra Facial Cleanser (2.5 oz.): a mild cleanser that contains a sugar-derived glycoside foaming agent to thoroughly cleanse skin and remove makeup without over-drying or stripping skin of its natural oils.
- Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate (0.17 oz.): a powerful, anti-wrinkle treatment clinically demonstrated to improve overall tone, texture and radiance.
- Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (0.5 oz.): a treatment that gently moisturizes the delicate skin around your eyes.
- Midnight Recovery Concentrate (0.06 oz.): a natural replenishing elixir of pure botanical oils that provides vital nutrients to skin to enhance skin's nighttime recovery.
- Ultra Facial Cream (1.7 oz.): a 24-hour, light-textured daily hydrator that leaves skin comfortable and visibly well-balanced.

Ultra Facial Cleanser
A mild facial cleanser formulated for all skin types. Thoroughly cleanses skin and removes makeup without over-drying or stripping skin of its natural oils. This cleanser removes oil and makeup and lathers up nicely. It's also affordable, the 2.5 oz is only $10. After a couple times of using it though my skin felt very dry, stripped, and irritated. Exactly the opposite of what it claims to do. I thought it might be the cold weather, but I tried it again and same result. It's just a little too drying for my combination/sensitive skin.
Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
This creamy, moisturzing eye cream is formulated with avocado oil to gently moisturize the delicate eye area.

Kiehl's Creamy Avocado eye Treatment was the first eye cream I bought in my 20's. There is a reason it has a top spot on best seller lists year after year. After not having much luck with other eye creams I was happy to return to this oldie but goodie. The texture is thick and creamy, yet once it hits the skin it absorbs quickly to moisturize the eye area. A lot of eye creams irritate my sensitive eyes and this is one of the only ones that does not. I love how well this moisturizes my eye area and stops my concealer from creasing and giving that 'crepey' under eye appearance.

Midnight Recovery Concentrate
A replenishing night time oil that visibly restores the appearance of skin by morning.  Regenerates, restores, and replenishes skin for smoother, healthier skin. Works with the skin's natural nocturnal activity when skin is most receptive to repairing itself from daily aggressors to dramatically restore skin.

I am serum obsessed. I have no fewer than 6 serums I am trying at one time. My Osmosis serum is on the pricey side and a little light for Winter so I switched to using the Midnight Recovery Concentrate this week. It's lovely. It really sinks in to your skin, plumps up lines, and you wake up with hydrated plumped up skin. The only con is the lavender oil fragrance is intense. I love the scent of lavender, just not on my face. Lovely serum, but beware it's heavily perfumed and that's a deal breaker for me.

Ultra Facial Cream
24 Hour facial moisturizer that helps reduce moisture loss while drawing and absorbing moisture from the air. With continuous moisture replenishment throughout the day. Leaves skin smooth, soft, and healthy looking.

I have a confession...I often skip putting on moisturizer in the day time. This isn't such a problem until that bitter dry cold hit and my skin dried out like crazy. I never liked the heavy, greasy feeling a lot of moisturizers left on my skin. Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream is your answer if you don't like moisturizers but need one. It's light, non-greasy, unscented, and sinks in to the skin immediately. I love that I can wear this under makeup in the day time and it works great at night too.

Skincare sets like this one are such a great way to try out a new skincare line. I discovered some products I definitely want the full size of and a couple that I now know I will be skipping out on. My next skincare foray is in to the Sunday Riley line, I have been dying to try out their serums!
