DIY Style: Customized Makeup Brush Holders

With summer finally here and the weather heating up I've been so busy being out and about that I haven't done much makeup, so instead of my face I thought I'd share how I've customized my makeup brush holders to fit my vanity decor. This isn't a new idea by any means, credit goes to Sephora, but it's a pretty inexpensive way to add a touch of your own personal style to your makeup organization.

I purchased these clear glass REKTANGEL vases at IKEA for around $4. Filled them with colorfill, a product that's available at most craft stores. The beads won't scratch or damage your brush handles, and keeps them upright.
Choose your decorative items. I cut pieces of fishnet for the eye brushes and lace for the face brushes, and sewed them to fit. To the fishnet I added a leather and spikes trim. Any kind of fabric, trim, or ribbon will work. You could also leave them unadorned and select colorful beads for the inside.
For my eyeliners I painted a ceramic cup leopard print, and added a grommet trim to spruce up this tiny lipstick holder that I keep my favorite daily lipstick's in. Ultimately I plan to cover them all in Spikes & Crystals like these Gasoline Glamour Shoes, but that's a rainy day project :)
