Blue Lips ...Crazy Cool or too Ke$ha?

Photobucket Photobucket
Blue Lipstick has been trending on the catwalks for multiple seasons now but would anyone actually wear this smurfette shade? I'm attempting to do so tonight with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in RX. OCC finally heard us out and re-packaged their tar's with a finer tip. I just wish I hadn't bought them beforehand!
The only look that drew me in at NY Fashion Week this year was the blue hue at Jeremy Scott. His inspiration behind the makeup was rave culture and Gwen Stefani, two of my biggest early influences. The eyes were left almost bare with neon bindi's sweetly framing the face. It complimented the colorful 90's-esque collection perfectly.
The blues at Jeremy Scott were created by mixing MAC pro Lip Mix in white and cyan, then setting it with a blue eyeshadow pigment. For mine I used OCC Lip Tar in RX, then added just a touch of Feathered(white) for a brighter Cyan lip. Other blue lip options: Sleek Pout Paint Peek a Bloo, KA'OIR doll, & Illamasqua Disciple.

Call me out for a segment of B*tch Stole my Look! because I ripped my outfit & accessory inspiration tonight straight from the LuLu's model. Lulus.com is one of my absolute favorite places to shop online. I wore a gold sequin dress from them on my Birthday and they sent me over this adorable The Crafty Kitten colorful leopard print dress. It's very 80's/electro meets Peg Bundy, I just love it. I'll pop up a full fashion review on them later on. But for now, if you need a flirty or funky dress you'll likely find one here. Shop your heart out :)

Blue Lips yay cool? or let Ke$ha keep it?
I'm not sure I have the guts to wear it out! I predict a quick change to Pageant

Review: Get Katy Perry's Lips with Glitzy Lips Lip Foil

If you were you wondering what that amaaaazingly flashy lip color Katy Perry was wearing during her performance at the Grammy's was well wonder no more :) It's Glitzy Lips Lip Foil in the shade Pink Couture. One thing I absolutely love doing is is trying new things in Makeup. The more quirky and bizarre the better! Glitzy Lips is the latest innovative product to grace the lip art world by taking the concept of nail decoration to the lips. The foils can also be used on other parts of the body, applied to nails, and mixed & matched.

The kit ($29.99) contains foil (available in 10 different shades) for 20-25 uses and 1/4oz Glitzystick. Unlike lip tattoo's, you apply this by painting adhesive on to the lips and then pressing the lips on to the foil allowing it to transfer.

The foil color I tried was RainbowDar, a multi-colored jewel tone rainbow foil. I'll be honest this is NOT easy to get perfect. I was becoming discouraged because I couldn't get it right no matter what. It came out patchy an un-even with very little foil adhering to the lips every time. I actually ran out of my sample because it took so many times of trying and re-applying. After viewing the instructional the process was much more clear, but my outcome...
yikes! still unsuccessful. I believe the adhesive is the culprit for the foil not transferring well. It feels like lash glue on the lips, very dry, uncomfortable, and just not a stellar product. I'm certain that if I had more of the foil that I could have eventually gotten it right. There must be a technique to it that I'm missing! If any of you have any application tips help a girl out! I really wanted to wear these out tonight, but because I ran out of the foil I had to improvise. Sooo I got to thinking how could I fix this....what's also shiny and light reflective...

Glitter!

I applied LIT Twisted Sister Glitter, a medium purple, on to the areas I missed and around the lip line to give it a more even application. If any of you are having trouble with the foils like myself, a little glitter or shimmery gloss can fill in the gaps and fix the flaws.

While it's not a completely foiled lip, I think the glitter combo meshes with it well. If you want to try Glitzy Lips for yourself I'd recommend going with the red or pink foils first. It won't be as noticeable if it's not completely even and you can fix it with a similar shade of lip color.

I'm totally bummed I couldn't get these to work! I would've loved to have added them to my kit for future projects. The foiled look is mega cool and I could see them glitzing up photo shoots, music videos, stage, or worn out to club night's. But to me it's just too much of a hassle for something that may or may not come out well.

Review: FaceFront Cosmetics Paradise in Flight Spring Collection + Friends & Family Sale

FaceFront Cosmetics was one of the first 'indie' brands that I was introduced to in the internet makeup world. They seemed to vanish over night, then resurfaced again with some great new product launches after being acquired by a new company. While sticking to what they do best with cutting edge loose artistic pigments they've also brought in to the mix blushes, setting powders, pressed shadows, liquid lipsticks, bronzers, and cream products. FaceFront has stayed true to its image: being viewed both as an environmentally responsible brand and more recently, a great find for those seeking vegan-friendly products.

Their latest LE Spring 2012 Launch, The Paradise in Flight Collection, is heavily focused on the "illumination" and "glow" of the skin. It brings us shades from the elements that can transcend across a broad range of ethnicity's and skin colors.

Paradise in Flight FOTD: Lotsa Lettuce Artistic Pigment, Autofocus Highlight Powder, Proper Peach Blush, Heatstroke & In Motion Liquid Lipstick.

The collection has a common undertone throughout and features mint and orange, two of the season's hottest colors. I feel this color palette will suit you bronze beauty's with darker or warmer skintones more so than they do me, but the colors are so dazzling and Springlike that you can't help but want to take flight with them.

FaceFront is having a Friends & Family Sale! It only happens once a year so take advantage of the great discounts for one week only.  Use Code: FF12

FOTD: Electric Royal Blue Eyeliner

Photobucket
A simple slash of Electric Blue Liner as that's all the excitement my angry eyes will allow. My allergies have been killing me, literally putting a knife in my creativity! The thought of blending eyeshadow's on my itchy puffy eyes is like rubbing sand paper on them. Anyone else have horrendous allergies? I hope you'll bare with me while I stick to lipstick & eyeliner dominated makeup for awhile :)

Finding myself at a Kohl's the other day I picked up the Rock & Republic outfit above head to toe.The pants inspired the liner. Hey, inspiration is in everything right? I only wish they'd bring back the Rock & Republic Cosmetic Line...le sigh...it was freakin amazing.
Glamour Doll Eyes sent me over a set of their eye shadow's. This is my first time using the brand, but I'm already on board for this color alone. Mingles is an electric matte royal blue. It's the most striking blue and I knew it'd be awesome for a dramatic liner. Eyeshadow can be an excellent alternative to eyeliner. It's softer and not as severe as liquid, much much more forgiving.
Photobucket
How To: I sketched out my line with a pencil first using Covergirl Liquiline Blast Blue Bloom then pressed the pigment on to it dry with an angled brush. You can also apply it wet as a liner alone, but the color deepens making it not as vivid.
