FOTD: Nancy Spungen style

I have this fascination with tragic women and inspiration comes to me in many weird forms...like Nancy Spungen (late gf of Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious) I mean what's more inspirational than a groupie junkie dead girl right? I wore this to the 20 years of Nirvana Nevermind release party. It's a pretty fool proof rock n roll look to do, just lay down a black base and pat glitter on top. Lipstick smudge on chin optional.

Where to Shop: Vintage Jewelry

While most of my daily jewelry is trendy and not of much value I love collecting rare & vintage pieces. The Three Graces, also known as Georgian Jewelry.com, is an online Jeweler of beautiful Art Deco & Estate Jewelry. They specialize in gorgeous jewels from the Victorian, Georgian, Edwardian, Art Deco, and Art Nouveau periods as well as engagement rings and fine modern jewelry.

The Three Graces has one of the most extraordinary selections of antique jewelry found anywhere online. Being fine jewelry, the pieces are expensive, but it's an investment that can be passed on for generations. I love how each piece has its very own story and history. All of their jewels are handpicked and authentic with absolutely NO reproductions. The Three Graces offers a 100% no risk complete money back guarantee and ship daily with most items received in 2 days.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, and one of my favorite pieces that they have available right now is this stunning Art Deco Sumptuous Pyrope & Garnet Ring.

Mid 20th. Century featuring a 24 carat oval Garnet (pyrope) on 14 karat yellow gold ring. The shoulders are mounted with 30 rose and old mine cut diamonds (.5 carat) on this captivating gothic looking ring.

Keep Reading for a few more of my pick's from The Three Graces!

Look 1: Dinair Sparkling Turquoise, Pink, Deep Purple, Jet Black
Look 2: Dinair Light Silver, Silver, Matte White &  Black
Look 3: Dinair Bright Blue, Blue, Jet Black, Paperself Seahorse Lashes

We're snowed in here in Seattle today, so I'm sharing a page out of my play book with a  few "rough draft" eye looks that I came up while experimenting with a new Airbrush technique. I think it has potential?

Done using the Dinair Airbrush Makeup System with Fantasy, Bright, & Shimmer airbrush makeup shades. I've been working with Dinair's older system for a couple years now, and it's my go-to for avant garde makeup. They upgraded me to the new model recently and it's fantastic, so much quieter! I'll be sharing a full review soon :)

DINAIR is offering an AMAZING special of a FREE upgrade to this gorgeous limited edition fuchsia leopard print compressor with any Studio Beauty or Personal/PRO kit. How sexy is that print! You can get it now at AirbrushMakeup.com

Review: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar

Photobucket
I have a confession to make...outside of the Artistry aspect of it, I don't really have much interest in makeup. The latest 13432432 MAC collection's and the like just don't excite me anymore..seen one peachy pink lipstick seen em all. But every now and then something truly innovative comes along that sparks my interest. This time being the stunning innovation in lip color that is the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar..

OCC LIP TAR™$13.50 USD | .27 fl oz -  OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. OCC Lip Tar is 100% vegan and cruelty-free, and is also free of parabens and other harsh preservatives. It goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, OCC Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment, so a little goes a very, very long way. The formula of these is unlike any other lip products I have. They apply like a gloss but dry to a satiny lipstick finish. They aren't kidding when they say these are intensely pigmented, one drop will give you a full coverage lip.  They feel nice & light on the lips and are very long lasting. The only con's I found were they are too drying for daily use & settle in to lip lines. The product packaging could also use a re-work to prevent excessive product from being dispensed. The color range is spectacular though, not many companies have the balls to offer such off the wall & intense shades. I'm a total "Lip Girl" so I just love the possibilities with these, any lip color you can dream up you can create. Tip: Also try them as a cream blush, so gorge!
L-R: Vintage, NSFW, Pageant, Grandma, Melange, Plum, Katricia, Hush, RX, Tarred, Feathered

While these probably aren't going to be your go-to lipstick for everyday use, they are a fantastic & versatile product to own if you're in to bold opaque lip colors or do avant garde/editorial/photoshoot work or hi-def. I picked up their original shades, but they have since expanded to a range of 36 bold nudes, pinks, reds, and the completely outlandish. Worth the hype? Absolutely.

Purchase O.C.C. Lip Tar here for $13.50 or for $12 ea. at Camera Ready Cosmetics

Disclosure: Products reviewed were all purchased by myself.

PAPERSELF False Eyelashes

Inspired by the art of Chinese paper-cutting, Paperself Eyelashes blend an element of traditional culture with contemporary design. Intricately cut and delicately pretty, each style is infused with symbolic meaning rooted in Chinese culture. I spoke about these lashes last year, but never had a chance to try them as they were fairly exclusive to the UK at the time. Paperself sent me three pairs of their beautiful lashes, and today I'm featuring Peonie's, which mean for happiness and good fortune.
Almost too pretty to wear! I admired them in the box not wanting to mess them up for a good while. Despite being paper, they're very sturdy and well made. The application is as easy as any other false lash, and they can be worn more than once. The strips are long allowing you to trim tiny bits off to apply them as individual pieces as well. I did a simple look with these. I feel the more minimal or color blocked the eye makeup the better, you really want the lashes to remain the focus.

For being so eloquently designed they're quite natural looking on aren't they?
